Shimone.org was launched in the summer of 2001. The website was created for the sole purpose of getting me (Shimone) out of the house on a regular basis. At the time I was stuck in a depression which I couldn't seem to shake. Returning from Israel in '98 proved to be a rough transition and it was a while before I felt grounded again. I was already an amateur photographer and Shimone.org became a creative outlet for my career in web development as well.
I was originally inspired by Rivka of rivka.org who had a very cool photo gallery of her own at the time and I used the Bay Area Hiker website as a reliable source of outdoor activities.
The early days of Shimone.org focused primarily on solo hikes in the mountains or with family on vacation. As the years progressed I gradually made new friends and built an exciting life here in San Francisco. By the time the final photoset was haphazardly uploaded in 2006, a stark contrast from 2001 was evident. To the naked eye it might looked like another debaucherous night on the town but to me it's a symbol of of the long journey from introverted homebody to outgoing socialite.
I'm pleased to say that I now see life as the wonderful blessing that it is. I have more love and joy in my world that I could have ever imagined. Unfortunately however, I no longer have the time or dedication to keep Shimone.org updated with the same passion I once had. These days I'm posting my pictures to Flickr as it is infinitely easier to maintain.
The photographs above represent the most recent 100 or so Flickr pictures and a few fun albums from my profile. The old Shimone.org archive remains as a reminder of how far I've come and for those arriving by way of a search engine. Thanks for stopping by either way. Feel free to write me any time: Shimone @ Shimone . Org
